Did you know that City-As-School has it's own Urban Farm?

February 05, 2011

There is a new urban farm at Battery Park. The farm’s purpose is mainly to educate, as mostly schools take part in the project.

Students ranging from kindergarten to 12th grade are getting down and dirty on the farm. The idea came from a local city high school when they asked the park for a section in which to grow crops. The farm is in the shape of a turkey, in honor of “Zelda,” the only turkey which roams the park. The acre devoted to the farm is just steps away from the street. Long shadows are cast over the farm early in the morning by the large buildings that overlook it.   -Alissa

The City-As-School Farm is located in Battery Park City where Pearl and State street intersect.
